Base Currency Definition
Description
The base currency is the first currency in a currency pair and indicates the value of one unit of that currency relative to the second currency, called the quote currency. For example, in the EUR/USD pair, EUR is the base currency, meaning the quoted price shows how many US dollars (the quote currency) are needed to buy one euro (the base currency).
